  1. Mr. Paul Winfree,

History has proven you wrong. I am a young adult. My coverage began
earlier this month, after a 5 year period where no insurance company would
take my money, due to pre-existing conditions. Furthermore, even if they
had, there’s no way I’d have been able to pay for it. I lost a business in
the fall of ’09, that I’d invested years of my life into – and henceforth,
my health care. I was a job creator, a small business owner and a young
adult. Though VERY devastated from the loss of my business, I didn’t
consider feeling sorry for myself, crawling into a hole, or giving up. I
was headstrong, in light of having been dealt one hell of a blow – suffered
an extreme betrayal from my partner, whom I had trusted in every respect.
Had my character slandered by my partner, was frozen from company accounts,
web portal access and our books. Long tale, but suffice to say, I’d been
living a solid, upper-middle class lifestyle with stable future prospects –
and almost overnight, was facing imminent homelessness before I had even
digested the emotional pain that comes along with such a loss. But it
wasn’t until my treatments stopped and my health rapidly deteriorated, that
I became incapable of working. And there, began a 5 year phase of my life,
where everything – in every single respect – has gone form worse, to way
worse…and ALL because I do not have healthcare. NOT because I was
irresponsible and chose not to pay for it, not because I was lazy and
didn’t want to work, and not for any other one the endless BS reasons
people like you constantly bring up, as a means of demonizing social
services, and those who need them.

For me, in my life…the shit completely hit the fan. And that’s why we
need readily accessible social services (healthcare, in particular) as a
society; to prevent hard-working, otherwise successful people like me, who
have hit a slump due a curve ball they never saw coming, from “bottoming
out.” Because had Obamcare been in place back then – none of this would
have happened. I would have remained healthy enough to start a new
business; or at very least, go find a new job to simply keep working. I
would have continued on, as a productive member of society. Instead, I
have been a drain on society and my family…and the quality of my life has
turned into complete and utter dogshit, because I spent 5 years, suffering
a paralyzing illness that went untreated. And that’s bad enough – just my
health and the shape I am currently in. Ad onto that, the reality that ALL
my debts, credit cards, car loans and tax obligations that have gone to
default/judgement and have ruined my credit and contributed to burdening
the economy. I have used the ER countless times, as my only means of
healthcare to stay alive, resulting in a 6-figure medical debt. On paper,
my life is already over…and it had only just begun. I owe more money to
Uncle Sam, than I will ever be able to pay back in my lifetime.

An ironic reality, I think, considering my largest and most unforgiving
debt is owed to the very government who failed to provide any medical,
social service/safety net that would have prevented all of this from ever
happening – the downward spiral of my life’s quality and the burden I now
place on my family and society, writ large.. It would have allowed me to
keep my life, as a giver, an employer and a hard worker. Instead, I have
been forced to take. And while I do not feel ashamed, for needing
help…it sure sucks listening to right-wing propagandists suggest that
legitimate, democratic efforts to help citizens in need, is a problem that
    won’t help us.

Because for me…it has literally, saved my life. I don’t know if I’ll
ever rebound, but thanks to Obamacare I at least will survive, to fight
another day. So fuck you, Paul Winfree. Fuck your smug face and smarmy
little voice. Fuck your complaining about Obamacare, having never offered
a solution, yourself. Fuck your lies and factual distortions. Fuck what
you stand for…which is making sure that our government continues to exist
only to serve the wealthy, while fucking over the other 90% of it’s
populations. Seriously, fuck you, you lying weasel. If anyone important
had listened to you back in 2010, I’d probably be dead, by now.

  2. Curious how Obama the candidate was against mandates as he ran for office
and the Heritage Foundation, until a few years ago, was in favor of
    mandates.

  3. @DornBear what’s wrong with that is that he doesnt want health insurance in
the first place. And that should be his choice… both morally and
    constitutionally without paying a penalty

  4. @DornBear I would say a truly free person has their right to speak their
mind about their way of living. Every one is unique much as every
enviornment in the world is unique with different forms of life adapting to
those conditions and living. Cultures too should be allowed to diversify to
support a healthy world community since no one should be forced to live the
exact same way as other people, they should be free to enjoy the blessing
of life and all its living aspects without being forced

  6. Why do you complain? You can stay on your parents policy until your 26.
Then, if you are not making much money yet, your payment will be plan will
be subsidized by the govt. When you can well afford to pay yourself, then
you will pay – what is wrong with that????

  7. to submit to others control over their daily lives, rather the human spirit
should be free to create and explore the world that provided a setting for
the birth of countless numbers of species, life and existence on this
    planet.
